Our Football School is the first FC Barcelona Academy in Australia. Its aim is to teach Australian players football the Barça way, training in line with current FC Barcelona methodology.

The FCBEscola empowers young players to successfully overcome future sporting challenges while simultaneously instilling the personal values which the FCBEscola Barcelona represent: Humility, Effort, Ambition, Respect and Teamwork.

The aim of the FC Barcelona Football School Sydney is to teach the players the concepts of football encompassed in the FC Barcelona methodology in order for them to be able to deal successfully with sporting challenges in the future, while also transmitting the values that are at the core of FCB:

Our development will empower players to successfully overcome future sporting challenges while simultaneously instilling the personal values which are so representative of FC Barcelona such as tolerance, respect, solidarity, friendship, fair play, integration, effort and happiness.



Francesc Pujol

Technical Director (Sydney)

Fran was born in Girona and played football from a young age. He played for U.E Figueres “Liga Nacional” (2nd Division in Spain) when he was 10 before joining the youth team of Girona F.C “Divisió d’honor” (1st Division in Spain). Fran then got selected to play in Catalan national team when I was 17.


He started his career as a coach at 18 in Palamos C.F where he also got the opportunity at 22 to be the physical trainer of the youth and first team (3rd division in Spain).


Fran holds a Sports Science and Physical Activity degree and a UEFA A License.

His journey with FC Barcelona started during the summer 2016 when he ran Barça Camps throughout the US.

During the 2016-2017 football season, Fran worked within the Barça Academy Dubai and trained the coaches on nutrition, physical training etc.


More recently (2017–2019), Fran was the Technical Director of the Barça Academy Cairo.


Fran is now heading the Barça Academy Sydney, carrying out the development of the training sessions as well as supervising and developing the Academy with different theoretical and practical formations following the FC Barcelona methodology and philosophy.

Marcus Flottmann

Academy Manager (Sydney)

Marcus is Australian born and bred, coming from a family with a passion for sports of any kind. His personal passion, football, has been lifelong and he continued to follow his affection to the game by joining BCN Sports in March 2018 as Academy Manager for the FCBEscola Sydney.


He joins the academy with an academic background which includes a Bachelor Degree in Sport and Exercise Management and a graduate degree in Sports Media, both studied at UTS.


Previously, he spent almost 2 years as part of the Membership and Media Intern and Volunteer team at the Central Coast Mariners, including having several official match reports published.


Marcus also brings to the team 10 years worth of customer service experience, a friendly demeanour and an attitude to constantly grow and develop.


A local boy on the North Shore of Sydney, you may even catch him outside the Academy at some of the local competitive football matches writing up enticing match reviews!

Ben Holmes

Country Manager

Ben grew up in the picturesque surrounds of Forster Tuncurry and played all his his junior football with the mighty Great Lakes Vikings. After completing year 12 (with a gap year in Europe at the 2006 World Cup in Germany), he headed off to study Sport Tourism Management at Southern Cross University in Lismore.


After university, Ben spent two years travelling Europe and exploring it’s many delights, then spent the best part of the next three years alternating between Summer in Australia and America. During his time in the US, he was a group leader at an American Summer Sports Camp.


At the age of 27, Ben landed a job working at the Australian Turf Club (Horse Racing) in the commercial team (Business Development). In September 2018 he found his way back to his first love (football), and started with the Barca Academy Australia as the Country Manager.


Outside of work, Ben loves the ocean and enjoys a quiet round of golf (mostly in the shrubs looking for his ball).

Peter Lee

Operations Manager

Peter spent his entire childhood living in the western suburbs of Sydney, accrediting his early passion for Sports to the days when streets and driveways were filled with kids playing cricket and basketball. His competitive spirit grew over the years and to this day, continues to drive him in seeking new challenges.


After leaving an accomplished career as a Financial Adviser, he fulfilled a dream to work in Sport by spending 3 years at Football Federation Australia. Working within the Leagues Division, Peter managed key projects from origin to execution and gained significant knowledge of the football landscape in Australia. His sporting experience also developed considerably where his duties encompassed a dual operational focus with each of the National Leagues and Asia’s premium competition, the AFC Champions League.


Peter holds a Masters in Sports Management and is extremely excited to embark on the next stage of his career journey with the Barça Academy Australia.

Hélène Zannou

Marketing Manager

Hélène grew up in a small town in the middle of France. Ex-gymnast and guitarist/drummer/singer, sports and music has already been two big passions of hers. She also spent 10 years in a small regional circus.


After high school, she completed a Bachelor’s in business that gave her the opportunity to complete an internship in London – that’s when she developed an unconditional love for travelling and discovering new cultures.


She then took a Master’s degree in Management (Marketing Major) in Bordeaux, France and Madrid, Spain.


She moved to Australia early 2016 and joined the Academy in November 2018, bringing with her 5 years’ experience in Digital and Marketing in global businesses.


When Hélène isn’t in the office, you will probably find her in a dance studio or in the grandstand of a football pitch supporting her friends.


The programs are structured to ensure that every coach plays a close role in each player’s development and the training sessions encourage a high degree of participation. As a result, each team is composed of a maximum of 12 players.

The Barça Academy Sydney employs the same training methods used by the youth teams at the Club, which consist of a group of progressive and interrelated exercises, adapted to each training level or stage.

The Barça Academy Sydney consists of different training phases according to the different age groups and a supplementary skill-based program (Development).
